Is it legal to self-manage a strata scheme in Australia?

Quick answer
Yes. Strata laws in each Australian state and territory let an owners corporation run its own affairs without appointing a strata manager. Some states add extra rules for larger schemes, such as audited accounts or specific record-keeping, so check the rules for your state before you switch.
The full answer
Hiring a strata manager is optional. The law places duties on the owners corporation and its committee, not on a manager. Those duties stay the same if you self-manage: keep proper accounts, hold an AGM, insure the building, keep records and follow your by-laws.
Flatflo supports buildings in NSW, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT and NT. Victoria is coming soon.
